WINTER HIKING TIPS & CLOTHING GUIDE

2022-07-22

Basically, hiking in winter is about the same as hiking in summer provided you follow some basic rules. First, dress warm, wear gloves and a head bandage or hat to retain your heat. Second, drink lots of water and bring along snacks (salty soups are ideal) that will also help keep your energy level up. Finally, plan to stop frequently and rest, preferably somewhere with dry shelter. A good hike is a rewarding experience on its own.

However, the best part of any trip is the afterglow when you come back to your tent or hotel room and can spend the rest of the day lounging on your favorite couch. When coming off a mountain, make sure to reward yourself with delicious food.
